Read About UsThere are many yungerleit living in Eretz Yisroel who live month-to-month. When the Yom Tov season approaches there is more difficulty than usual making ends meet. Besides for all the regular expenses like rent, childcare and groceries, Yom Tov has the added expenses of more seudos (food, papergoods, etc.), more mitzvos (sukkah, daled minim, matzah, wine, Pesach keilim etc.), and clothing for the family. Additionally, many of their wives get paid hourly and work fewer hours over Tishrei and Nissan, thereby lowering their income for those months. Keren Ezras Yom Tov was established in 2019 to help ease their burden, and Baruch Hashem, has distributed over 600,000 Shekel since its inception! Our outlook at KEYT is that “A thousand shekel may not be enough to make Yom Tov, but it IS enough to make the difference in their Yom Tov.”
What started out as helping a few families for Pesach, grew into what KEYT is today. Although the main focus is on Yom Tov, KEYT also helps struggling families throughout the year by paying off account balances at the local makolet, distributing cash and supermarket vouchers, as well as a weekly food distribution. We also started a program called Ba’agala Ubizman Kariv, which helps families purchase a double stroller at a cheap price. (Email Baagalaubizmankariv@gmail.com for more info).
